This is all about love that is greater than ourselves ... Enjoy! 

  

  Here in our house ... We will never know the loneliness we hear in the calls  of the other dogs. We can sleep soundly, assured that when we  awake our world will not have changed. We will never know the fear of hunger. We will not shiver in the cold, or suffer from the heat. We will enjoy the sun's radiance and the rain's coolness. We will be free to smell all that can reach our noses. Our coats will shine and never stay dirty or matted (most of the time). 

   Here in our house ... There will always be an effort to communicate with us on our level. We will be talked to and, even if we don't understand, we  will enjoy the warmth of the words. We will know our names so that we  may enjoy who we are among many. Our names will always be used in a joyful way and we will love to hear those sounds! 

   Here in our house ... We will never be a substitute for anything we are  not. We will never be used to improve peoples' images of themselves. We  will be loved because we are who we are, not someone's idea of who we  should be. We will never suffer from someone's anger, impatience, or stupidity. We will be taught all the things we need to know to be loved by all. If we do not learn our lessons well, our teacher will accept the responsibility and gently reinforce the things we need to know.   

 Here in our house ... We can trust the arms that hold us, the hands that touch us ... knowing that, no matter what they do, they do it for the good of us. If we are ill, I we will be cared for in the best way possible. If we are frightened, we will be calmed and reassured. If we are sad, we will be comforted. No matter how we look, we will be considered beautiful and will know that we are greatly valued.  

We will never be cast out for being too old, too ill, too unruly, or not cute enough. Our lives are a responsibility ... not an afterthought. We will learn that humans can almost always be as kind and as fair as us dogs are to one another.  

   Here in our house ... We will always belong and we will always be home.
